I'm a beginner and want to get started - are these nests suitable for getting started in the hobby?

Of course! These nests are designed with those who are just starting out in the fascinating world of ant farming in mind. They have been successfully tested with Messor barbarus ants, which are an excellent choice for beginners. In these nests, these ants feel very comfortable and their colony will grow healthily.

What size should I choose to start with?

Both small and larger models are suitable for getting started, as they all feature expansion gates that allow you to adjust the space as your colony grows. The choice of size can also depend on your budget. Generally, it is advisable to start with smaller models as they are more manageable, and move to a larger one when the colony has grown sufficiently.

Can I put any type of ant in the AntCrilic nests?

These nests are suitable for a wide variety of ants, but there are exceptions. They are not recommended for ponerine ants or exotic species that require high humidity. They are also not suitable for desert ants as they may slip on the acrylic surface. However, many of the species common in the hobby will live comfortably thanks to the advanced humidity system of our nests.

How do I clean the AntCrilic nest?

All of our nests can be disassembled for easy cleaning when changing colonies. We recommend avoiding harsh cleaning products and only using warm water and soap. The acrylic material is non-porous, which makes it easy to clean and prevents dirt build-up.

My colony is very large and I need another nest, what should I do?

Thanks to the special couplings included, you can connect the nest to a plastic tube and transfer the colony to a larger nest without any problems. Although our anthills are not modular, this connection makes for a safe and hassle-free move.
