KITS QBIK

Your gateway to modern myrmecology

We have designed a selection of Qbik kits with a clear objective: to allow anyone to get started in this fascinating hobby with maximum ease, safety, and quality. Each kit is created to offer a comfortable experience for both the user and the ants, maintaining the professional standard that has made Qbik a reference system in the world of ant keeping.

Why choose Qbik?

Qbik is not just another formicarium; it is a professional modular system designed to grow with you and your colony, offering:

  • The greatest scalability on the market: expand your setup without changing systems, all the way up to the limits of any colony.
  • A reliable and efficient humidity control system designed to guarantee nest stability. It provides humidity and also allows the ants to drink from it.
  • Various gallery configurations, adapted to granivorous, insectivorous, or mixed species. The kits include the ideal gallery for Messor barbarus.
  • Robust materials and functional design, oriented toward daily handling and observation, with a resistant material that makes it very difficult for ants to damage it.

For these reasons, Qbik has become one of the most complete formicarium platforms in the world, ideal for both beginners and advanced enthusiasts.

We want your ants to begin their adventure in the best possible conditions. That’s why we have prepared different ready-to-use Qbik kits, equipped with everything you need to get started without complications.

In addition, these kits have a clearly educational component. They are an excellent option for children and families: Messor barbarus ants are native European species, they have no venom, they do not sting, they cannot nest in a house, and they are a perfect species for learning about animal behavior and ecology.

CHOOSE YOUR KIT

QBIK ONE

MEDIUM GALLERIES + ONE FORAGING BOX

The most accessible option. Compact, functional, and perfect for starting out without a major investment. Ideal for first-time users entering the hobby.

QBIK DUO

MEDIUM GALLERIES + DUO FORAGING BOX

An intermediate solution offering greater handling comfort. The wider foraging box makes cleaning, feeding, and daily maintenance easier.

QBIK QUADRA

MEDIUM GALLERIES + QUADRA FORAGING BOX

Our most complete and advanced kit. The large and wide foraging box allows easy manipulation of the interior, even when the colony reaches considerable sizes.
Its design minimizes the risk of escapes and improves observation of natural ant behavior in a broader and safer environment.

PARTS

MINICOLONY OF MESSOR B.

Messor barbarus queen with her first workers. One of the most recommended species for beginners: resistant, clean, calm, and with fascinating behavior. The ants have water and food for approximately 30 days.

1ML DRINKER

Designed to provide water or nectar safely and accessibly, we recommend filling it with water to add extra humidity to the foraging area.

BLUE SUGAR 10ML

A nectar widely accepted by most species; perfect for supplementing their diet. Place a couple of drops in the feeder so they can easily access it.

RED LID

Designed to cover the gallery chamber and reduce the ants’ stress, imitating the darkness of a natural nest without losing visibility of your colony.

MIXED MILLET BAG

The fundamental food for seed-collecting ants.

FEEDING TRAY

Ideal for offering seeds, pellets, drops of Blue Sugar, or insects without dirtying the surface of the foraging area.

DECORATIVE LIDS

They enhance the aesthetics of the Qbik system and provide a clean, robust finish.

ACCESSORIES

Fixing screws and L-shaped Allen key. In the QUADRA KIT, an elevated base to separate drinkers and feeders from the surface.

What do I do when my formicarium arrives?

You will receive your colony in a test tube prepared with water and food, which guarantees their well-being for 30 days without requiring any intervention, in case it is a gift or you do not have immediate time to set it up.

1. Assemble the Qbik system by connecting the foraging box to the gallery chamber and securing it with the corresponding screw.

2. Moisten the humidity module. This is essential for keeping the interior of the nest at the correct conditions. First moisten the blue PVA sponge by adding a few drops of water, then connect the water-filled tube so it continuously hydrates the sponge.

3. Attach the white test-tube connector piece to an open wheel, then attach the test tube to the wider side of the connector. This will allow the ants to leave the tube and enter the formicarium without escapes.

4. The relocation can take from one hour to several days, depending on the colony’s behavior. Patience is key here.

Once they have settled in the galleries, remove the test-tube connector piece and the tube, then close the wheel. From that moment on, all that remains is to enjoy the growth of your small seed-collecting colony.
