qbik foraging

QBIK foragers are an essential addition to the QBIK ecosystem, providing your ants with an outdoor space where they can forage and dispose of waste. This area is crucial for their well-being as it allows them to behave more naturally. The larger the forager, the more it will resemble their environment in the wild.

We offer a variety of models to suit the space needs and size of your colony. In addition, QBIK foragers are designed to be completely escape-proof and feature a multitude of add-ons so you can get the most out of your anthill.

The new era of efficient ventilation

QBIK AIR lids are the ideal solution to ventilation problems of the past. Thanks to their continuous and adjustable ventilation system, the stress caused by pressure changes when opening the foraging area is eliminated. In addition, they keep the environment ventilated, avoiding the accumulation of bad odours.

They incorporate special small lids to safely feed climbing and aggressive species, without having to disturb them.

Their greatest advantage is the significant reduction in condensation generated by waste, which drastically reduces the risk of mite infestations associated with humidity.

Its visually attractive and ergonomic design fits perfectly with the side covers, allowing you to monitor both temperature and humidity efficiently. This is key to ensuring the well-being and health of your ants, maintaining optimal conditions for their development.

Not only do these substrates provide the necessary conditions for your ants, but they are also perfect for the use of springtails, small organisms essential for keeping the environment clean, preventing the proliferation of mites that could be generated by waste.

maintenance

Proper maintenance of the QBIK is essential to ensure its durability and optimal operation. To do so, you must take into account the following recommendations:

  • Avoid direct sunlight: Both the methacrylate and the PLA of the QBIK should not be exposed to direct sunlight, as the material can absorb heat and deform. This can compromise the tightness and cause leaks.

  • Do not place the QBIK under direct air conditioning: Sudden changes in temperature can negatively affect the material, damaging it over time.

  • Proper cleaning: Avoid using hot water, as it can deform the material. Do not use alcohol or abrasive cleaning products either. The best option for your anthill and your ants is to clean with warm water and cotton.

  • Humidity control: High levels of humidity within the foraging area can deform the methacrylate over time. If you have a species that requires a very humid environment, we recommend purchasing a Qbik AIR lid to avoid possible inconveniences.
