Specifically designed to meet the unique needs of fungus-growing ants, this modular system allows you to keep and expand Atta and Acromyrmex colonies safely, efficiently, and with ease.

Unlike other ant genera, leafcutter ants require separate areas for fungus cultivation, waste management and foraging. For this reason, this setup has been developed following the natural organization of their nests, making maintenance easier and supporting the healthy development of the colony.

WHAT DOES THE SYSTEM INCLUDE?

The main piece of the set is equipped with a passive humidity system using a lower water tray and a raised grid that separates the fungus from the humidity source.

This design creates a stable, humid atmosphere, essential for the proper development of the symbiotic fungus these species depend on to survive.

Its large internal volume facilitates the progressive growth of the fungus garden and provides enough space for the constant work of the workers.

Connected to the main module by tubes, this second box is designed for adding leaves, flowers, supplementary food and managing waste.

Separating the cultivation and foraging areas reduces fungus contamination and greatly facilitates cleaning and observation of the colony. As the colony grows, you will need another foraging module for the ants to use as a waste area; however, until the colony exceeds 500 individuals, the first stages are covered by the Anthouse leafcutter ant kit.

Both modules are connected by wide tubes, allowing the natural movement of ants between the different chambers while carrying plant material such as leaves or petals.

The setup includes a connector tube to join both modules.

The system can be easily expanded as the colony increases in size, adapting to the growth needs of the most demanding species.

The setup includes three interchangeable transparent protective caps that allow the available volume to be adjusted during the early stages of development.

In this way, the space adapts to the actual size of the fungus garden, helping to preserve humidity more effectively and providing the ants with a more controlled and secure environment.

As the fungus grows, the caps can be progressively removed until the full volume of the main chamber is available.

To make it easier to monitor internal conditions, the system includes an integrated hygrometer and thermometer, allowing two key parameters for the proper development of the fungus and the well-being of the colony to be monitored at all times.

The setup can be optionally equipped with full-closing rotating doors that allow each module to be completely isolated when needed.

This system is especially useful during maintenance, cleaning, expansions or transfers, minimizing the risk of escapes and disturbance to the ants.
