Blaptica dubia or Argentine cockroach is a large cockroach, reaching 60mm in length in the adult state, its growth is slow, between 5 months and 1 year it will take to reach its adult size, it is born with just 5mm, so it is Widely used as live food for reptiles from small to large sizes.

Brown/black in color, the males have wings, although their ability to take flight is practically nil, serving them for little more than gliding from a high surface, the females are wingless.

They are slow, clumsy insects, they do not have the ability to climb smooth surfaces and their slow development makes them one of the insects most used as live food today, they are very very resistant, being able to feed on any feed, fruits and vegetables, they tolerate both cold as heat stoically.

Its very good nutritional ratio (70% protein/10% fat) makes it the live food most desired by reptile fans. This insect is also highly appreciated by small mammals that need insects as live food in their diet.
